Cash-secured put screener alternatives and comparison
Comparing alternatives for selling cash-secured puts? This page sets out six other tools in plain terms (Option Samurai, Barchart, OptionClaws, Wheel Strategy Options, QuantWheel and OptionsAware), what each does and does not do, and where PutFinder fits: a ranked daily Top-10 of cash-secured puts, plus per-ticker analysis. If you are weighing a CSP screener against a broader scanner, the fit check below is the quickest way to see the difference. PutFinder is not a replacement if you need naked puts, spreads, margin figures, alerts or trade execution.
Facts about other products were checked against their own public pages: Option Samurai and Barchart on , and OptionClaws, Wheel Strategy Options, QuantWheel and OptionsAware on . Prices and plans change; confirm on each vendor’s own site. PutFinder is not affiliated with any of them, and every product name belongs to its owner. If anything here is out of date or wrong, email contact@putfinder.com and we will correct it.

Naked put or cash-secured put: why the label matters
A cash-secured put is a short put where the seller sets aside enough cash to buy 100 shares at the strike. A naked put is the same contract without that cash set aside, so it relies on margin. The contract is identical; the collateral is not. Some tools use both labels together: Option Samurai’s FAQ lists “Naked put (cash-secured put)” as one strategy. When you compare screeners, check which collateral assumption their yield and capital figures use. PutFinder always assumes full cash collateral.
Option Samurai
A broad options scanner that lists 24 strategies, with custom multi-leg scans, intraday scan watching, a trade log and a 14-day free trial (checked October 31, 2026). Plans were listed at $39 (Beginner) and $59 (Advanced) per month when paid annually. The full side-by-side, with sources, is at PutFinder vs Option Samurai.
Barchart
Barchart’s Naked Put Option Screener (source, checked October 31, 2026) screens naked (short) puts as an income strategy. The page offers saved screeners, an emailed report, a profit/loss chart, earnings flags and downloads. Logged out, it showed 1–20 of 813 results; the page says Barchart Premier members can view all results and set custom filters across covered calls, naked puts and option spreads. Barchart’s options menu also lists screeners for covered calls, vertical spreads, married puts and collars, straddles and strangles, calendars and diagonals, butterflies, condors, long calls, long puts and IV rank. Unlike PutFinder, it screens naked puts. We did not check Premier pricing or options data timing; see Barchart’s own site.
OptionClaws
What it does: an options scanner that lists 23 strategies and 80+ filters, with cash-secured put and wheel screeners, custom multi-leg scans of up to 4 legs, a strategy builder, a trade journal, and an MCP connection for ChatGPT and Claude. What it does not do: the site says it does not place trades; its screeners cover optionable US stocks, and options data refreshes intraday rather than in real time. Pricing: checked November 1, 2026 (pricing page): $39.99 per month, or $33.33 per month billed $399.99 yearly, with a 7-day free trial and no card to start. Trade-off: it covers more strategies and tools than PutFinder; PutFinder is narrower, one ranked daily list of cash-secured puts with the inputs shown next to each rank.
Wheel Strategy Options
What it does: a web platform for the wheel strategy. Its screener filters covered call and cash-secured put contracts by ticker, strike, yield, delta and days to expiration; it also lists a daily pre-market Discover view, a Trade Tracker and a free 19-lesson course. What it does not do: its pricing page lists no free trial. Pricing: checked November 1, 2026 (pricing page): a Free Forever plan with a basic screener (with limits) and no card; Pro at $19.99 per month or $198 billed annually, listing 15-minute delayed chain data; higher plans (Ultra, Maxx) add live chains and more; a 7-day money-back guarantee. Trade-off: it adds trade tracking and saved-screen email alerts, which PutFinder does not have; PutFinder gives one ranked daily list with a published method.
QuantWheel
What it does: an options workspace that combines charting, gamma exposure (GEX) and options-flow views, wheel position tracking with breakeven after premiums, a screener for calls and puts to sell, a roll assistant, a journal, and order placement through 15+ connected brokers (support varies by broker). What it does not do: it states that it does not hold funds or give financial advice; orders go to your own broker, and some brokers are sync-only. Pricing: checked November 1, 2026 (pricing page): a Free plan with a demo portfolio and delayed data; paid plans GEX $29, Wheel $49 and Quant $79 per month; 7 days for $1 to start. Trade-off: much wider, including charts and execution; PutFinder has neither, and is a screening and analysis tool only.
OptionsAware
What it does: a daily options-income screener with leaderboards for cash-secured puts, covered calls, and put and call credit spreads, a score that compares the strike with the company’s estimated worth, Buy or Wait labels on contracts, a Telegram bot with alerts, and a Chrome extension. What it does not do: its homepage shows no performance history or backtest. Pricing: checked November 1, 2026 (site): the site lists no prices or trial terms; it offers a free beta by invite request. Trade-off: it includes credit spreads and alerts, which PutFinder does not; PutFinder does not label contracts Buy or Wait, because its scores are relative ranking heuristics, not recommendations.
What to compare in any cash-secured put screener
- Collateral assumption: full cash, or margin.
- Strategies covered, and whether you will use them.
- How the ranking works, and whether the inputs are shown next to it. See the PutFinder methodology.
- How earnings are handled: PutFinder treats contracts that span an earnings date more cautiously or excludes them.
- How fresh the data is, and how often the list updates.
- Price and trial terms, in the vendor’s own current words.
- Whether past results are published, and how they are marked.
Common questions
What are alternatives to the Barchart naked put screener?
It depends on whether you need uncovered puts. PutFinder is an alternative only for cash-secured puts: it ranks them daily and does not screen naked puts. Option Samurai is a broader scanner that lists “Naked put (cash-secured put)” among 24 strategies (checked October 31, 2026). Barchart’s own Naked Put Option Screener does screen naked puts; see the Barchart section above.
What are the best Option Samurai alternatives for cash-secured puts?
We do not rank competitors, and no single tool suits everyone. For cash-secured puts, PutFinder is a narrower tool that starts with a Free account; current plans are on the pricing page. It does not cover spreads or custom scans. The sourced comparison is at PutFinder vs Option Samurai.
How do I choose between cash-secured put screeners?
Start from what you will actually use: the collateral assumption, the strategies covered, whether the ranking shows its inputs, how fresh the data is, and price and trial terms in each vendor’s own words (see the list above). For what PutFinder’s own screen shows and how it ranks, see the cash-secured put screener page.
Is there a free cash-secured put screener?
PutFinder has a Free account that includes the previous daily Top-10 list, a watchlist, and per-ticker analysis with daily and weekly allowances. Plus, with a 7-day free trial, shows the latest list as soon as it is published and adds a second update before the market close.
What is the difference between a naked put and a cash-secured put?
They are the same contract with different collateral. A cash-secured put sets aside cash equal to the strike × 100 per contract; a naked put does not, and relies on margin. PutFinder screens only the cash-secured kind.
Does PutFinder screen naked puts, credit spreads or iron condors?
No. PutFinder ranks cash-secured puts only. It has no naked put, spread or multi-leg screening, no margin calculator, and no trade execution.
Is PutFinder investment advice or a signals service?
No. Scores are relative ranking heuristics, not forecasts. Yield is premium arithmetic, and delta-based probability is a model estimate, not a historical win rate. PutFinder sends no signals and does not tell anyone to trade.
